Associate Specialist in Diet Modelling

Nestlé Research Center, Lausanne, Switzerland Temporary contract (2 years), act rate 100%

Over the last 5 years, the 600-staff NRC has published around 1000 scientific publications in peer review journals and files about 80 patents every year. The NRC also has around 100 research collaborations with universities or research institutes around the world. The NRC is organized with three large research institutes for Health Science, Materials Science and Food Safety & Analytical Science. Research Units focusing on Clinical Development, and PetCare, complement these major Institutes. The NRC plays an important role in providing the science behind healthier products (learn more about the NRC at www.research.nestle.com).

Demonstrating excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex scientific discoveries, you will be responsible for the delivery of a new methodology aiming to develop nutritional targets for more nutritious products and transfer it to the business, in order to strengthen the R&D pipeline for nutritionally improved products.

Key responsibilities

· Identify and access relevant datasets for analysis
· Model the impact of diet and dietary changes on nutrition and health outcomes
· Develop evidence-based nutrition & dietary recommendations based on modelling results
· Use food and diet nutritional scoring to define quality criteria for foods and diets
· Analyze observational studies for diet and health interactions and communicate results effectively to internal and external stakeholders
· Effectively manage research activities, research assistants, collaborations, and resources to deliver milestones on time
· Lead the knowledge transfer for newly developed profiling methodology and support development of educational material
· Build relationships and manage complex stakeholder environment
· Contribute to scientific communication material, patents, and peer-reviewed publications

Education and experience
· PhD in Nutrition, Epidemiology or Public Health
· Strong competence in nutritional epidemiology and statistical analyses, ideally with R or SPSS
· Experience in linear programming, survival analysis, and/or other modelling techniques using large dietary cohorts and food composition data
· Knowledge of nutrient profiling science and systems is considered a plus
· Outstanding track record of scientific publications
· Fluency in English.
