AUTOMATION ENGINEER

Job description

Reporting to the Manager of Automation Engineering, provides direction and technical leadership for the design, development, and day to day operation of automation and control systems, including HVAC, utilities, and process systems to support a pilot plant, fermentation, purification, formulation, filling, warehouse, and QC lab operations for the Holly Springs Flu Cell Culture facility.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Strong leadership, organizational planning and project management skills, in addition to technical knowledge, is required to interact with coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
* Excellent interpersonal effectiveness and communication skills (written and oral) are required in order to interface across management levels and departments.
* Experience with engineering design, construction, start-up, commissioning and validation as well as supporting factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests required.
* Ability to determine schedule and deliver to schedule and budget.
* Manage vendors including engineering, commissioning, and integration staff.
* Support end users through document reviews, course development, and hands on training sessions.
REQUIREMENTS:
* MSc degree is required in Electrical or Chemical Engineering or related engineering field.
* At least 1 year experience in pharmaceutical/biotech operations, with working knowledge of cGMPs, FDA regulatory guidelines, and validation principles required.
* Must have strong experience with PLCs (Siemens S7 PLC) , exposure to DeltaV is an advantage.
* Design experience or owners experience in control systems for HVAC, plant utilities, process equipment and clean utilities.
* Working knowledge of processing steps, including pilot plant, fermentation, purification, formulation, or filling may be required, depending on specific duties.
