Job description

The Bing Local Search team is responsible for building disruptive technologies and services to serve the user’s search intent regarding local businesses, places, addresses on web, mobile and map entry points. If you have searched for a restaurant, hotel or an attraction on Bing, you have been the beneficiary of our work. Our goal is to redefine how a user searches, browses, or receives local information.

We are looking for experienced developers that share our passion for understanding and processing information to make the real world easier to explore.   Being part of the Local Data Platform team, you will be responsible for understanding, ingesting, conflating and experimenting on millions of entities across the world. The role provides a unique opportunity to be both a great engineer and a data scientist. As an engineer: you can design/build/improve our data ingestion pipeline or you can build offline tools, infrastructure, and platform to abstract and support relevant technologies and experiments. As a scientist: you can create or adopt cutting edge data analysis, ranking, clustering, and other data mining/machine learning technologies to make inference on web scale entities and user data to provide best quality local data and maximize user experience on our domains and scenarios.  

Qualifications: We expect candidates to have a range of skills, typically including:

- 3+ years of software development    

- Practical knowledge of modern programming skills (e.g. C++, C# or equivalent)  

- Experience in formation retrieval, machine learning, data mining, or statistics preferred  

- Proven track record on shipping high quality products/services  

- Passionate and self-motivated  

- A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Math or EE; PhD is a plus
