THE OPPORTUNITY

Join our dynamic team in Greenville, SC as a Tire Design Simulation Engineer, where you'll play an integral role in actively designing new tires that set the standard for performance. In this position, you'll apply sophisticated finite element analysis (FEA) and other simulation techniques to ensure our products surpass customer expectations and adhere to strict standards, blending innovation with precision. Situated in Greenville, South Carolina, the sprawling Michelin Americas Research Center (MARC) campus is home to approximately 650 dedicated employees, including materials researchers, product designers, scientists, engineers, test technicians and individuals in a variety of support roles.  Our team contributes to designing, testing, and industrializing the innovative products that earn Michelin’s deserving place as one of the world’s leading tire manufacturers. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Simulation Mastery:

·  Apply FEA and other ground breaking prediction tools to craft tire designs that adhere to a variety of requirements, including internal standards, government regulations, and industry benchmarks.
·  Conduct in-depth analytical studies with simulation to explore how different design choices and usage conditions affect tire performance.
·  Offer data-driven recommendations to steer design choices both within the core team and with external partners.
·  Transform simulation insights into actionable tire models and data for seamless integration with advanced vehicle and/or driver-in-the-loop simulations, correlating to real world performance.

Knowledge Exchange:

·  Produce insightful reports that capture crucial discoveries and new design principles, contributing to our collective understanding of tire mechanics and analysis techniques.
·  Document and share simulation methodologies and best practices, enhancing our team's capabilities and efficiency.

Progress and Collaboration:

·  Engage in the development and testing of new simulation tools, providing valuable feedback to improve these resources.
·  Serve as a key liaison across different global regions in this field, ensuring alignment and excellence in our collaborative efforts.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

·  Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact in a professional manner with external partners, suppliers, customers, and colleagues at all levels of the organization.
·  Strong teamwork, leadership, and organizational skills.
·  Creativity and effective problem-solving skills
·  B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related scientific field required; prior experience in a product development role and/or M.S. degree preferred.
·  Proficiency with CAD software; knowledge of Catia is preferred, but not required.
·  Experience with FEA software or other physics-based modelling tools.
·  Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Matlab, or Bash scripting.
·  Attention to detail, data accuracy.
·  Vehicle dynamics and automotive background is a plus.
