Job Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to sell, promote and provide support to customers & customer staff, including other related Key stakeholders on the features and benefits of Royal Canin products, all to grow the current sales. This role is reporting into the Veterinary Pillar.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Process:

· 
·  Make optimum number of calls/day/week on the proper mix of accounts - 25 calls/ week as an average
·  Focus on Royal Canin and/or Eukanuba brands only - Responsible for educating, selling and increasing Royal Canin’s product portfolio.
·  Work closely with Key Account Managers to ensure effective execution
·  Ability to actively listen, learn and follow-up (Consultative approach) to selling RC products
·  Track each accounts sales by period using Salesforce
·  Follow up on each call by phone or email within 24 hours
·  Participate in conventions/trade shows where company representation is required
·  Provide in seminars and training
·  Remain professional in your appearance and demeanor at all times
·  Maintain profitability and growth

Knowledge/Skills:

· 
·  Continually acquire new product knowledge by staying current with the Knowledge Portal along with other company provided tools
·  Continually acquire new selling skills – internally and through external sources
·  Demonstrate and apply advanced level of business concepts and terminology (profit/loss, mark-up, margin)
·  Proven sales ability and KPI analysis (sales, coverage, distribution, display, cost analysis, sales history/trend)
·  Keep abreast of the competition and their products
·  Above average computer skills: MSFT Office skills (Excel, Word, PPT), Apple software, Sales Force, Pitcher, and able to conduct online product knowledge training.

Manage Territory:

·  Call on accounts with a frequency as determined by management and the customer – maintain consistent call cycle
·  Be able to work flexible hours
·  Work strategically with the head offices of larger chains and/or the sales force of distributors, as directed by management

Administrative Tasks:

·  Maintain Salesforce update to date – no later than one week delay
·  Define your BDF accounts, seek approval from management for spending and maintain sales records of BDF accounts - Record, manage and budget corporate Business Development Funds (BDF)
·  Regular and routine check of email, voicemail and online (SF) programs
·  Company and personal expense reports submitted as required (no later than 5 business days after month end)

Sales Goals:

·  Understand and embrace goals determined by management and meet or exceed the necessary results
·  Set personal goals and objectives for personal development

Corporate Citizenship:

·  Attend and participate in all sales meetings both regional and national
·  Attend appropriate company functions
·  Maintain company vehicle in safe working condition in accordance with the fleet manual
·  All company tools and equipment must be maintained in good working order at all times and remain the property of Royal Canin and are to be returned if you leave the company
·  A company credit card will be provided for your use while on company business for meals, hotels etc. adhere to company expense policy
·  Coach, mentor and empower other team members

Other:

·  Most be able to lift an 18kg bag of dog food
·  Internal relationships with Customer Service, Marketing, Sales, Accounting, R & D, Clinical Research, Q & A, Technical Services
·  External relationships with Clinics, Distributors, Technical or Veterinary Schools, Humane Societies, Technical or Veterinary Associations
·  Adhere to applicable Quality and Food Safety Policies and Quality Management System requirements to ensure compliance to MARS standards.
·  Demonstrate a quality culture in actions, words and spirit
·  Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience

·  3-5 years sales experience, including presentation and customer service skills
·  Minimum of 3-5 years working companion animal hospitals or in an industry sales role if role is in the veterinary pillar
·  1 year college diploma in nutrition, animal science, medical or business courses or equivalent level of industry experience
·  Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
·  The following are considered preferred/an asset:
·  Excellent communication skills – oral and written
·  Time management and organization/planning skills
·  Technical aptitude and computer literate (MS office, Salesforce.com, etc.)
·  Knowledge of Royal Canin products
·  Bilingual (French & English) dependent on region
·  Product education and technical knowledge of (nutrition/pet food science) ideal or ability to learn
