Senior Scientist (W/M)

Location: Aimargues (30 minutes from Montpellier)

Contract: Permanent

Salary Package: from 52k€ to 76k€

Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract is a major health concern in dogs and cats and a common cause for veterinary consultation. In the past twenty years, Royal Canin has developed effective and innovative diets to help veterinarians prevent and treat gastrointestinal conditions in pets. To keep offering leading-edge nutritional support in this area, Royal Canin’s mission is to explore new solutions that can be leveraged in products and services for veterinarians.
As Senior Scientist in the research team of the global Research & Development (R&D) center, you will build and execute research projects to deliver first-class nutritional solutions for pet gastrointestinal conditions within an established research program. You will contribute to the scientific expertise and the business objectives of Royal Canin while developing your professional skills in a multicultural environment, with various internal and external interfaces.

What are we looking for?

• Doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM or equivalent) (preferred)
• MSc or PhD (preferred)
• You have developed an area of expertise in line with veterinary science, gastroenterology, or nutrition.
• 2+ year experience in a business environment where you developed skills in R&D and transferred science to products would be an advantage.

• English is fluent

• Good presentation and communication skills

• 'Out of the box' thinking

What would be your key responsibilities?

• Screen potential solutions, build and manage research projects within the Royal Canin Gastrointestinal research program.
Lead the full execution of research projects including protocol generation, external research contracting, ethical review, budget and protocol follow-up.

• Communicate relevant scientific findings to key business and external audiences through written work and oral presentations.
Manage final internal reporting, external scientific communication, peer-reviewed publication and support for patent filing as needed.

• Deliver nutritional solutions implementable in Royal Canin product & service portfolio
Transfer the solution to the Product development teams and propose the best route of implementation into the product.

This role involves multiple interfaces:

• Internally: all R&D teams (Product Formulation, Manufacturing & Evaluation, and Scientific Support), Quality and Food Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Veterinary Marketing, Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition.
• Externally: key opinion leaders in the field of animal gastroenterology, animal science and veterinary nutrition who are engaged in collaborative projects.
