Job Purpose:

This position is responsible for executing projects for the Petcare Business Unit (BU) focused on product formats across both Cat and Dog products. Performs engineering assignments as part of a work team involved in the planning, organizing, and developing new technology and innovation as it relates to the Petcare BU. Requires the ability to use and apply extensive knowledge of many engineering disciplines to execute small minor projects aligned with the overall BU strategy.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

·  Bachelor's degree in an engineering field
·  Minimum 3+ years in R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing Factories, and/or Pilot Plant experience
·  Previous CPG experience
·  Project management, time management, and interpersonal skills
·  Ability to travel up to 25% in Canada and US

Preferred Requirements:

·  Strong working knowledge of engineering, food science, food manufacturing processes, quality assurance principles, statistics, and SPC
·  Experience in Root Cause Analysis methods with strong problem-solving skills
·  Previous continuous improvement experience

Key Responsibilities:

·  Develop and manage capital projects to install factory scalable equipment into the plant and assessment of scalability.
·  Initiate test plan development, experimental setup, test execution, and data analysis to quantify key process parameters and fundamental mechanisms at factory scale.
·  Provide process development and validation to enable the delivery of key product attributes.
·  Deliver scalable process specifications collaboratively developed with Product Development and Supply Engineering to achieve exceptional product attribute targets and ensure superior product quality and food safety.
·  Identify and evaluate innovative processing options based on product attribute requirements including evaluation based on technical and economic feasibility.
·  Provide technical support to Product Development, Quality, and Supply on new or existing processes.
·  Build/maintain networks within the Technology, Product Implementation, Packaging, Engineering, and Quality teams.
·  Lead translation of technology ideas into visual, physical models, and working prototypes.
·  Collaborate with the intellectual property team to provide IP protection of new technologies.
·  Apply Lean Thinking principles and Value-Added Engineering.
·  Minor Project and Budget responsibilities are required with potential contractor and technician management responsibility.
·  Work as part of the engineering team to assist in the management of scale-up risk and introduction of technology into the supply chain.
