Mars Petcare is Currently Seeking a Packaging Technology Engineer
Located in Brentwood, TN


Position Overview
This position is responsible for supporting the Packaging Technology Team and deploying packaging work streams across Dry Scale, Premium Naturals, and Care & Treats platforms throughout the North American regional network.

This role provides technical support for continuous improvement, process efficiency, and process standardization both on the pilot facilities and the full scale production sites. It will have major contributions on how to step change modeling and simulation and scale up methodologies into Mars Petcare factories.

Key Responsibilities
• Be a key contributor to our business growth objectives, the ongoing profitability of our brands & to develop technical expertise in the areas of packaging development & deployment, packing processes & technologies, and continuous daily improvement.
• Define the standards of excellence in the scale up & development of new packaging process technologies across the Dry Scale, Naturals, and C&T platforms in the PDC/QIC
• Simplify and standardize the creation, capture, and transfer of knowledge in the interface between the GIC, packaging development team, PDC, and the North American production facilities.
• Execute the capture, data analysis, trending, and reporting of manufacturing data to ensure knowledge is captured and translated as effectively as possible. In-turn inform the network to reapply the knowledge and leverage that data in the continued development of robust models.
• Leverage the TNT QIC & PDC capabilities as a reference site to inform the optimum development & scale up of new packaging technologies. Recommend needed pilot capabilities and upgrades to current equipment to more accurately scale up technologies.
• Align with the GID and Develop & Deploy teams on desired handover documentation and key information to ensure a more seamless and successful handover process. Create the standardized documents required to support PLM Handoff criteria and maintain those documents as the program evolves.
• Utilize modeling and simulation to deploy validated packaging formats across the network with minimal disruption to operations and minimal expense costs to the business.

Qualifications
Minimum

• A BS degree or 5 years relevant work experience
• An understanding of experimental design, continuous improvement, root cause analysis techniques, and scientific protocol.
• An understanding of mechanical and electrical systems and their interaction within equipment.
• An understanding of packaging materials and converting process
• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint

Preferred
• A BS or advanced degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or related technical field
• Knowledge of statistical process control tools
• Working knowledge of food science, health and nutrition, food manufacturing processes, quality assurance principles
