Job description

Description of the role:

To assist and support the Business Unit Controller / Functional Controller in the management and functioning of the SSC processes of the assigned business unit. Pro-actively identify and assist in the solution of problems relating to SSC processes.

Key responsibilities

Practice management processes and lock up administration

·  Assist the relevant Controller / Functional Controller in the development and maintenance of efficient practice management processes and ensure that lock up is maintained at appropriate levels.
·  Monitor and report on un-billed WIP.
·  Monitor and provide the appropriate level of reporting on timesheet submissions and missing timesheets.
·  Prepare and review expense claim reports for approval.
·  Clear process exceptions as required e.g. no baseline budgets, closed projects that still have revenue items that need to generate, identify WIP older than 180 days and ensure WIP provisions are raised, identify projects with no movement in a period, identify and close old projects.
·  Escalate system issues to the appropriate support team and ensure resolved.
Management Accounting

·  Assist the business unit management to meet agreed objectives through the provision of meaningful management information and the maintenance of reporting standards, under the guidance of the relevant Controller / Functional Controller.
·  Run, print and distribute monthly management accounts and other management reports.
·  Prepare and distribute monthly management reporting packs.
·  Review monthly management accounts to identify causes of material variances to expected results and take appropriate action to rectify any errors.
·  Analyse general ledger accounts where this is required to provide relevant and meaningful information to partners.
·  Prepare monthly journal entries as required and send for processing e.g. ITS charges and allocations, accruals manual provisions etc.
·  Process pre-approved batches as required.

Budgets and forecasting

·  Support and assist the relevant Controller / Functional Controller in the application of budgeting, planning and forecasting processes for assigned business units.
·  Compile detailed business unit budgets, plans and forecasts, assist in the discussion and review with relevant partners and Controller / Functional Controller.
·  Load detailed budgets, plans and forecasts for assigned business units into Oracle.
·  Prepare and review resource based budgets (PBCS) and other supporting calculations for assigned business units.
Other

·  Assist the relevant Controller / Functional Controller with the development and supervision of a high performance team.
·  Obtain approval of supplier invoices for payments and code to the appropriate expense account.
·  Respond to general queries received from KPMG staff, external auditors, internal review teams, third parties and KPMG management.
·  Perform adhoc duties as requested by the Controller / Functional Controller.

Qualifications and experience

·  BCOM (finance, accounting, financial management).
·  Proficient in excel, word and power-point.
·  Knowledge of Oracle.
·  5 years of experience in a computerised accounting system environment.
·  2 years management / supervisory experience.
·  Good written and verbal communication skills.
