Gateway & Procurement Support
Support the North America Regional airfreight procurement team. Support production of analyses using large collections of data overlaid with Microsoft Excel pivot tables. Produce and deliver detailed, industry-intense presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint. Support the organization and execution of complex projects aimed at improving service performance, increasing business volumes, and managing transportation cost. Employ historical data to develop trends and standards by which gateway performance and value are measured. Use deep industry background as the basis for informed decisions. Communicate concisely, clearly and with the highest professional standards in written and spoken language. Support conclusions and decisions with appropriate facts and data. Support senior management team to deliver help, education and process improvements that increase the performance of the regional gateway management team. Work comfortably with the direction from the director/vice-president/senior vice-president level. Understand the current regulatory and economic environment. Stay abreast of current events generally and industry events specifically. Meet deadlines and manage priorities appropriately.
• Support and assist Senior Management team overseeing the KN North America gateway network.
o Assist in periodically measuring and reporting attainment (usually monthly and annually)
o Support Management of performance, production and procurement data
o Assist gateway managers as requested; support/attend/participate in gateway-area conference calls and meetings as needed.
o Prepare and distribute market update and conference call agenda items for gateway team conference calls as needed.
o Support RA-X / RA XO gather data for conducting one-on-one conferences with individual gateway managers.
o Assist in organizing and preparing material for presentation for meetings and events.
o Assist in preparing forg gateway managers’ meetings; deliver selected/assigned presentations, support preparation of other presentations to be delivered at the meeting
Your Skills and Experiences
Deep background in the airfreight industry is required, for example, five or more years as air export gateway manager in large gateways (i.e. Chicago, Atlanta, New York), two or more years of airline relationship management and negotiation leadership on the national, regional or global scale (from the airfreight forwarder perspective,) two or more years of airfreight P&L responsibility, two or more years of national gateway management or regional airfreight management experience, fifteen or more years of airfreight industry experience overall. In addition, competent understanding of the current regulatory and economic environment’s influence on the airfreight industry is highly desirable as well as competence with typical airfreight operating and finance systems.
Bachelor’s degree is required or at least ten years of airfreight industry experience managing gateways and holding lead air carrier negotiating roles. Demonstrated spoken and written communication and analytical skills are mandatory. Competence with the English language both spoken and written must be absolute. Abilities to skillfully use Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint must be proven. Presentation preparation and delivery skills before medium to large groups and experience at both preparing and delivering are mandatory. High degree of proficiency using MS Excel pivot tables is absolutely required. Organizing skills, time management training, prioritization ability and abilities to consistently meet deadlines are necessary. Individual must be mature, composed, intelligent, objective, always willing to listen, ready to take direction willingly and as necessary change direction on short notice as required.
