Job description

Job Description

Requisition ID: 6056181030

Janssen BioTherapeutics is seeking a highly motivated individual to support development of AAV production platforms, capsid engineering, and vector technology in which to leverage this knowledge to improve our AAV gene therapy program.

For consideration as a post-doctoral fellow, the successful candidate will be a subject matter expert on the development of AAV-based gene therapies. The candidate will have experience in viral vector design, characterization, and production platforms. The position will be responsible for developing novel capsid engineering for improving target cell tropism as well as characterizing viral vectors in support of gene therapies across a broad range of targets. Towards this end, a fundamental understanding of evaluating expression profiles of therapeutic targets will be required. The ability to interact with external stakeholders and to subsequently apply that knowledge towards developing a world-class gene therapy program is critically important

At Janssen, postdoctoral fellows are trained by expert scientists working at the cutting edge of drug discovery. Janssen Bio Therapeutics supports a wide range of therapeutic areas including Oncology, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular and Metabolism, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases. The successful candidate will learn from and contribute to an industry-leading drug discovery program that has brought numerous quality therapeutics to patients and significant contributions to human health. They will partner throughout the Janssen R&D organization and participate in cross-functional team discussions, gaining insight into many aspects of biotherapeutic discovery and development. The Postdoctoral Fellow is expected to author papers on their research and present novel findings at scientific conferences.

Key Objective:

To use state-of-the-art cell engineering, gene expression technologies, and protein purification methods to gain a better understanding into basic AAV biology and viral production systems.
