WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Suspension. Engine mounts. Wheels and tyres. To provide an exceptional driving experience, every chassis component needs be honed to perfection. That takes all kinds of people, from designers to project managers.

 

The Brakes Design team is responsible for the design, development and integration of all brakes, components and systems (from PS to FDJ), across all vehicle platforms. Here, you will be responsible for functional safety deliverables and implementation on Jaguar and Land Rover Brake Control Systems. As the Functional Safety Engineer, you’ll perform functional safety lifecycle activities in compliance with ISO26262. Plus, you’ll resolve system interaction issues at the electrical integration level. As you’d expect, this role includes working with other parts of Jaguar Land Rover and tier one suppliers of electronic control units, in the application of functional safety.

 

You’ll ensure the safety requirements for our products are derived in a logical and rational manner, and rigorously documented. You’ll also ensure the functional safety processes are followed in the development of brakes features and systems components. You’ll perform confirmation reviews on functional safety work products, produced by other staff. In addition, you’ll drive their deployment in accordance with programme gateway deliverables. You’ll also lead and support colleagues in resolving functional safety issues with suppliers. What’s more, you’ll support incorporation of functional safety activities into Jaguar Land Rover Brakes and Chassis Engineering processes.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

You’ll have experience in chassis engineering and verification validation planning. You’ll also have experience of working to ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or equivalent standards, as well as safety case writing. The ability to perform function safety lifecycle activities is essential, particularly hazard identification and classification. In addition, you’ll bring knowledge of safety requirements derivation and design analysis.
