Infrastructure Support Engineer
Job Description:
Candidate will be assisting Operations Engineering Support personnel with the support applications managed by Cyber Security. This support includes end-user support, ticket handling, Change Management, Configuration Management, Escalations, Major Incidents (MIs), user access issues, application support, system management, patch management, cloud server procurement and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Support applications managed by Cyber Security. This support includes end-user handling, problem/ticket resolution, escalations to engineering and IT, and performing application work on servers on behalf of engineering teams.
· Create and deploy scripts to help with application and operating system monitoring.
· Provide deep level support for critical applications. This support will include deep application knowledge, deep OS understanding and scripting.
· Provide Change Management support to Cyber Security, including submission of Requests for Change (RFCs), and modification and approvals of RFCs.
· Provide Configuration Management support to Cyber Security, including submission of configuration changes, new application creation, and application decommissions.
· Represent Cyber Security on Major Incidents involving Cyber Security applications. Achieve fast resolutions to MIs.
· Facilitate server access for Cyber Security employees, through various processes and tools.
· Procure cloud servers for Cyber Security teams and resolve any issues with access or availability.
· Install and configure servers.
· Oversee patch management on some Cyber Security-managed applications.
· Deploy and maintain state-of-the-art security applications and appliances.
· Review security alerts from applications and set up automated event notifications.
· Support security audit requests.
· Write and maintain support and process documents (e.g. playbooks, install docs, etc.)
· 24 x 7 On-call support is required (on a rotation basis, approximately one week every eight weeks).
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor's degree is preferred, but comparable accomplishments in Systems Administration, Application Support and/or Software Engineering will be considered.
· 5+ yrs. of current experience in IT.
· Minimum of 2 year of experience in the support of at least four of the following areas:
End-user Support
Incident Management
Application Software or Database Support
HP-UX, Linux, VMWare & Microsoft platforms (Server, client, applications)
Deployment of Security Patches/Hotfixes for Enterprise Applications
Troubleshooting of operating system and networking issues.
Software Engineering
· Experience supporting Windows and Linux server technology, complex enterprise systems that include geographically distributed users.
· Excellent troubleshooting techniques and analytical skills.
· Familiarity with HPIT processes relating to Change Management, Configuration Management, Access Management.
· Strong analytical skills.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Ability to operate within a team independently and understand when to escalate issues to management.
· Some knowledge of security tools, threats and vulnerabilities associated with large enterprise environments a plus.
· Experience with security systems or managing security infrastructure and/or applications a plus.
· The preferred candidate will have at least one or more IT professional certifications.
