Role Summary/Purpose
The Welder will weld metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS), using electric arc-welding equipment. You will weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions. In this role, you may tack assemblies together.
Essential Responsibilities
· Clean weld joint or work piece
· Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions
· Weld together metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, diagrams, or manufacturing operations sheet (MOS), using electric arc-welding equipment
· Guide electrode along weld joint, manually or semi-automatically
· Manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal
· Positions or clamps work pieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture
· Examine weld for bead size and other specifications.
· Prepare parts for weld including trim, debur, size, and clean to spec
Qualifications/Requirements
· High School Diploma / GED
· Successful completion of a TIG or GTAW training course or program (or minimum of 1 year of experience as a TIG or GTAW welder)
· Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime as required
· Ability and willingness to lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds (with assistance) as required
· Ability and willingness to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa)
· Ability and willingness to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL))

· Ability to calculate algebraic variables and formulas and have a basic understanding of trigonometry (i.e., sine, cosine, and tangent formulas)

· Ability to subtract, multiply and divide fractions, decimals and whole numbers
· Ability and willingness to read blueprints
· Successful completion of welding certification and eye examination
