Role Summary/Purpose
You will be responsible for maintaining large clusters of Linux compute servers, monitoring availability and performance, and ensuring compliance to security requirements. You will interface with Engineering design teams and IT product teams to ensure that the systems meet the business need, and with network, storage and other team members to deliver a seamless experience to the users.
Essential Responsibilities
· Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across the business
· Provides technical leadership and operational support for planned releases, incidents, and issue resolution.
· Responsible for resolving rare incidents, fulfilling complicated requests, and implementing wide sweeping changes.
· Utilizes scripting expertise to increase productivity in resolving incidents, fulfilling requests, and implementing changes across all compute infrastructure.
· Provides impact assessment and mitigation plan for changes going into the production environment.
· Drives continuous improvement of computer operational activities to maximize efficiency.
· Develops automated solutions to address potential problems before they result in a service interruption.
· Develops automated solutions to eliminate common or repetitive tasks.
· Leverages monitoring tools to resolve problems and identify systematic issues with the design and architecture of affected system(s).
· Assists with development of availability measures that align with consumer experience to accurately assess the usability of crucial services.
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and/OR a High school diploma with a minimum of 5 years of enterprise scale Linux environments
· Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in IT
Eligibility Requirement:
· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.
· Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government SECRET security clearance
Desired Characteristics
· Proven leadership skill in digital technology
· Deep expertise in managing Linux, server environments
· Ability to dissect and understand complex technology
· Hands on experience with a breadth of IT solutions
· Experience with HPC and Supercomputing environments
· Experience with engineering analysis applications, CAD, Stress or CFD.
· Active US government S / TS security clearance
· Experience providing customer focus and supporting technology solutions
