Role Summary/Purpose

As a Proprietary Security Officer you are responsible for the protection of the people and assets of GE Research. Proprietary Security Officers respond to, identify and attempt to mitigate all security and safety related incidents and emergencies that have a potential negative impact on the business.
Essential Responsibilities

Proprietary Security Officers contribute to the protection of the people of GE Research via a comprehensive physical security program and by taking the lead for or active role in site emergency response. Officers safeguard assets utilizing appropriate NISPOM, corporate security compliance, and site-specific EHS and physical security regulations and EHS. 

You will: 

·  Ensure all Security Officer position scheduled and response related regulatory obligations are fully met in accordance standard operating procedures  
·  Promote the security and safety of GE Research
Perform patrol tours to guarantee Company assets and people are properly protected  
·  Staff site entry points to ensure access control requirements are met 
·  Respond safely and appropriately to security, TGMS, fire, and utility alarms 
·  Accurately document all incidents and unusual events as required by the Global Security Director
Generate ideas for, participate in and/or oversee programs designed to enrich the GE Research Security Department 
·  Fulfill all designated shift duties including ensuring that contract security personnel performance in alignment with GE Research Security standard operating guidelines and procedures 
·  Conduct yourself in a professional, courteous and competent manner at all times
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of relevant experience in law enforcement, military, fire services, emergency services or industrial security; OR an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related emergency services field with 8 years relevant experience in law enforcement, military, fire services, emergency services or industrial security; OR a high school diploma or GED with 10 years of experience in law enforcement, military, fire services or emergency services  
·  Must be capable of: walking up to 7 miles in an 8 hour shift, lifting and carrying items up to 72 pounds, standing for extended periods of time, climbing ladders, traversing uneven, slippery surfaces, working in research industrial environments 

·  Must be willing to work up to 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends and holidays 

·  Proficient in the usage of Microsoft Office programs including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD “Secret” level clearance  
·  Due to the nature of the work done at GE Research, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

·  Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY
Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process  
·  Must be 18 years or older
Priority will be given to employees of GE Research Due to headcount constraints
