Role Summary/Purpose
Several research positions are available in the Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training Network MAGISTER, funded by the European Commission under Horizon 2020. MAGISTER is a project providing research training in data science, machine learning, computational fluid mechanics, combustion dynamics and acoustics for aircraft engines. Two positions in data science and combustion in aircraft engines are available at GE Aviation. The positions are limited to the 3 years of the PhD program.
Essential Responsibilities
Your specific responsibilities will include:
· Execute data analysis, modeling, testing and visualization that meet academic / business and the product / program requirements
· Develop machine learning models focused on aero and thermo-acoustic of aircraft engines
· Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements, schedules and contract commitments
· Interact with co-workers within GE Aviation Digital and Combustion Engineering communities, the MAGISTER project partners and the academic community to establish best practices and technical achievements
· Monitor and communicate project status, business issues and significant developments
· Participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews
Qualifications/Requirements
· Master’s degree in Computational Engineering & Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related disciplines
· Experience in data science, machine learning and data visualization
· Experience in one programming language such as Python, R or similar
· Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work
· Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to communicate at a variety of levels, from detailed design reviews to high-level leadership reviews
· Fluency in English
· Eligible to Horizon 2020 Guidelines by not having performed the main activity in Germany for more than 12 months of the 36 months before starting the position.
· Eligible to Horizon 2020 Guidelines by being in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of the research career, starting from the date of obtaining the degree which would formally entitle to embark a PhD study
