Role Summary/Purpose

The 2nd Shift Machinist will machine and handle Aeroderivative gas turbine parts in accordance with all GE manuals and specifications, standard procedures, quality processes and alerts

Essential Responsibilities

As the Machinist you will:

·  Set up and run various machining tools including but not limited to mills and lathes (align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machine)
·  Operate and program Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment (including planning CNC Machine work by reviewing work orders, engineering specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters)

·  Complete tasks referencing geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
·  Responsible for entering all machining parameters as well as proving part programs (including adjustments to machine to control speed, material feed, cutting path, and other instructions such as zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, using shop math, geometry, and trigonometry
·  Responsible for quality, making sure the machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality product (assuring the Scope of Work and GEK Manuals coincide with the program before machining any rotor or nozzle). Also responsible for generating Non Conformance Reports (NCR) if there are any issues with the product
·  Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on Machine Shop machines (including disassembly of machines or equipment, using hand tools or power tools to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed)
·  Utilize a wide variety of precision tooling such as indicators, micrometers, calipers, drills, depth gauges, other measuring equipment to achieve accuracies at 0.0001 of tolerance
·  Transport parts from area to area as directed include operation of material-moving equipment such as forklifts, jib cranes, overhead cranes etc.
·  Will have ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity in machine shop area
·  Provide product line support in the assembly / disassembly of LM6000, LM2500, LMS100, and LM5000 turbines and modules as needed
·  Serve as change agent to help improve on current processes

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Associate's Degree in Machining Technology (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 3 years of CNC experience) 
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

·  Ability and willingness to read, evaluate and respond to product specifications and blueprints, and perform routine mathematical calculations (basic math, geometry, and trigonometry)
·  Ability and willingness to be certified to use overhead cranes and their associated rigging systems, as well as, drive various types of forklifts
·  Ability and willingness to read and communicate in the English language
·  Ability and willingness to lift 40 lbs

Desired Characteristics

·  Computer literacy with both SFM and Microsoft applications
·  Minimum of 1 year experience with GE Aero Energy LM gas turbine parts and equipment including but not limited to Service Bulletins, Standard Practices, GEK, and IBCT reporting procedures (GE employees only)
·  Minimum of 3 year prior LM engine or module assembly / disassembly experience
·  Ability to utilize CAD/CAM software to convert detailed drawings/procedures to machine programs
·  Capacity to handle multiple simultaneous projects
·  Extensive experience in the following areas: CNC operation; drilling; tapping; milling; grinding; quality control; and safety
·  Proficient skills in operating both high and low speed grinders, VTL (vertical turret lathe), and horizontal lathe grinders
·  Ability to use precision measuring equipment to achieve accuracies at 0.0001 of tolerance.
·  Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills
·  Strong mathematical skills
·  Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines
·  Able to work over time and evening shifts
