Role Summary/Purpose
The Product Quality Engineer will be responsible to lead quality improvement initiatives across the lifecycle of the product platforms. You will work closely with customers, Quality, Technology, Supply Chain and Services to define product quality requirements, ensure design for quality and reliability in NPI programs, support manufacturing quality deliverables, and identify and resolve post market product quality issues.
Essential Responsibilities
In the role of Lead Product Quality Engineer, you will:
· Validate key product quality design inputs and support design activities to build in quality
· Be an integral member in NPI business and design reviews to assess product readiness in terms of quality, reliability and manufacturability
· Assist in the review and approval of verification and validation test plans and reports
· Lead technical assessment of product quality performance
· Use post-market analytics and statistics to report on product quality performance in the field (provide feedback to manufacturing, suppliers or design teams) and initiates field actions when required
· Effectively manage the closed-loop problem resolution process to minimize the impact of quality issues to the field / customer / production from proper material containment and screening to rigorous root cause identification and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence
· Lead root cause analysis of top customer issues
· Provide leadership and oversight to ensure effective CAPA solving and closure with a cross-functional team
· Effectively design the robust production testing processes to prevent the escapement of product nonconformities
· Author Technical Information Letters (TILs) and Field Notifications (FNs)
· Validate the effectiveness of proposed post market solutions and support their implementation in the field
· Effectively present the results of the technical issue resolution process both internally and to customers
· Update, on a regular & timely basis, the status of your programs and product quality to business leadership
· Lead design activities to improve product performance, improve yield and reduce warranty expense
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) from an accredited college or university
· Minimum 3 years quality, operations and/or engineering experience
Desired Characteristics
· Minimum 5 years of combined experience working in a quality or engineering function on complex electromechanical systems in manufacturing environments
· Six Sigma Blackbelt or Greenbelt certified
· Knowledge, skill and experience in collaboration with a wide range of functional disciplines such as Engineering, Customer & Product Support and Sourcing
· In depth knowledge and proven ability to steer the product life cycle process; new product introduction, sustainment, end of life / obsolescence
· Highly skilled with root cause analysis and improvement tools and methods such as Apollo, 5Why, Shainin, Fishbone, LEAN, DFSS
· Highly skilled with defect avoidance methodologies such as DFMEA / PFMEA / DOE
· Knowledge and experience with APQP concepts and methodologies including FMEA, quality control planning, error-proofing, PPAP, SPC, MSA
· Proficient in Quality Systems and Processes
· Eagerness to get involved in hands-on work
· Proficient project management skills
· Working knowledge of SAP
· Experience in a regulated industry
· Strong organizational, analytic, and problem-solving skills
· Prior industry experience and familiarity with Measurement & Sensing products and services
