Job Description

We are looking for a talented and motivated PCB layout engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and layout of printed circuit boards (PCBs) from concept to completion. You will work closely with electronic, and mechanical engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure that your design meets all functional, performance and manufacturing requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Translate electronic schematics into optimised PCB layouts using industry-standard CAD software (Altium).
  • Ensure signal integrity, power integrity and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in your design, while still ensuring electrical safety.
  • Creation and maintenance of components, performing symbol / footprint creation to a high standard, while maintaining our library database.
  • Create and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including Gerber / ODB files, fabrication drawings and assembly drawings.
  • Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure designs meet project requirements and timelines.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest PCB design trends, technologies and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • HNC or higher qualification in electronic engineering, computer engineering or related fields (or equivalent experience)
  • Some experience in PCB layout.
  • Proficiency of PCB layout software (e.g. Altium Designer, Cadence allegro or Mentor Graphics)
  • Strong understanding of electronic design principles, including signal integrity, power integrity, EMC and creepage and clearance.
  • Excellent knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
