Role Summary/Purpose
With a specific focus on GE Industrial Controls solutions, the Industrial Automation & Controls Service Specialist will support the specification, development, installation, commissioning, and ongoing life cycle maintenance of industrial control systems solutions for our installed base of customers in North America. In this role, you will provide technical support, as needed, remotely and at customer sites for all planned and non-planned installation / maintenance support activities.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Industrial Automation & Controls Service Specialist, you will:
· Lead in the design, development and installation of new and retrofit control systems using GE PLC Controllers and I / O systems
· Assist in the design, development and installation of SCADA and HMI systems using GE Software
· Conduct studies / research to determine hardware and software requirements for projects
· Design, develop, document PLC, HMI and SCADA program code
· Analyze engineering and financial requirements of proposed projects and support ITO with development of proposals
· Serve as consultant to both customers and GE management regarding best practice resolutions of complex problems
· Proactively develop and implement measures to improve operations and customer satisfaction
· Promote GE controls solutions in front of customers during commercial presentations and other events as needed
· Liaise with GE support associated with hardware and software engineering
· Provide support to establish test environments and perform customer factory acceptance tests
· Provide formal / informal customer training that may be conducted at a GE facility / at customer sites as needed
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university or college
· Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in industrial automation control systems, including:
· Industrial Controls Systems (controllers and I / O) and Cimplicity software suites
· Instrumentation with the usage of instruments for data recording and troubleshooting
· Analog and Digital control systems circuits ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT:
· Ability and willingness to travel 40% of the time domestically, with the possibility of some international travel
· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required; we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening
Desired Characteristics
· Working knowledge of Windows computer systems and basic networking
· Working knowledge of industrial SCADA and HMI systems
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
· Specific experience with Marine applications
· Ability to lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
· Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
