Role Summary/Purpose
Reporting to the Lentronics Technical Program Manager responsible for releases of communication products to drive both top-line and bottom-line growth. The successful candidate will be able to develop and execute card and network level validation test cases for a MPLS-based multiplexor product. The candidate will have a solid understanding of packet and data network architectures and experience in testing hardware at the data link and physical layers.
Essential Responsibilities
Assume a junior/intermediate systems validation role in the GE Lentronics Multiplexor business
Assist in test plan development to ensure products meet performance specifications, conformance to standards, functionality, scalability, and robustness
Execute test cases and generate validation reports
Simulation and root cause analysis of reported bugs
Assist development group in debugging design issues
Assist in development of test automation software and scripts
Exhibits strong trouble shooting skills
Qualifications/Requirements
University degree in electrical or computer engineering
Hardware/systems experience in telecom and IP networking products
Skills and Attributes
Working knowledge of telecom, data and IP networking standards: MPLS, Ethernet, IP virtual private networks, LSP, LER, LSR, T1, E1
Working knowledge of network protocols: OSPF, RIP, BGP
Experience in debugging digital and analogue hardware, signal integrity issues, and embedded systems; proficient with test equipment: scopes, T1/E1, Datacom, ethernet testers
Experience with TCL and PERL
Ability to quickly master new material, interpret test data to identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and solve problems with minimal guidance.
Highly motivated, excellent team player with good interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize
