Role Summary/Purpose

Execute the assigned base team software related projects with the objective of completing the assigned task within Quality, time and budget. The purpose of the Controls Base team is to develop, maintain and improve the basic hardware and software building blocks for the Unit’s HVDC and FACTS Control equipment.
Essential Responsibilities

• Software development and execution of complicated control system using SAL (Structured Architecture Language)
• To develop HMI Application in Panorama, DS Agile
• Interfacing with test equipment & signal generators
• Modern SW development practices (TDD/Test Driven Development, CI/Continuous Integration, Unit Testing, automated regression testing).
• Understanding of real time-software design
• Hands on experience on complex, large test beds with hundreds of signals and parameters
• Interfacing with test equipment & signal generators
• Completing the assigned task in allocated time frame and able to troubleshoot bugs
Qualifications/Requirements

• Electrical/ Electronic/Instrumentation & Control Engineering degree or equivalent with at least 3-5 years’ experience in real time software design in a control system environment.
• Good Knowledge of C programming language, Object Oriented programming languages
• Knowledge/understanding of electrical power system engineering for Utility customers, Customer process understanding
• Exposure to Software development and testing
• Exposure to HMI (Human Machine Interface) Application development
• Ability to work in a group environment as a team player
• Strong communication (verbal, written), and interpersonal skills
Desired Characteristics

• Software development processes, HVDC and SVC application requirements.
• Exposure to HW, DSP, FPGA testing and VxWorks OS
• Exposure to Real-time test & simulation environments (e.g. RTDS, Speedgoat, OpenRTL, …).
• Working knowledge of Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence)
• Working knowledge of Version management (SVN, GIT)
• Release management, release testing and reporting
