Role Summary/Purpose

The Research Manager is responsible for identifying what research needs to be performed to meet product development and clinical evidence objectives; identifying academic research partners well suited to meet these needs; planning and justifying research studies to meet these needs; and ensuring the research is being conducted in a timely and satisfactory manner to provide research deliverables to the Ultrasound business.
Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Determine what clinical (human) research data is needed for product development, validation, regulatory submissions, and marketing, based on feature content, intended marketing claims, and regulatory strategy;
- Collaborate with applications development and NPI program teams to develop clinical investigation/evaluation plans
- Seek out academic partners well suited to collaborating with GE. Understand their strengths and collaboration interests. Work with collaborators and product development teams to solicit investigator-initiated research proposals that are well-aligned with GE research needs.
- Propose and justify research studies based on established research needs of the Ultrasound business; collaborate with Medical, Clinical, Regulatory and Legal functions to obtain approval for the study through appropriate research management review processes
- Maintain oversight of research studies, keeping program stakeholders appraised of progress and risks
- Review research deliverables to ensure they are consistent with terms of research agreements and are of appropriate quality to meet objectives of the study for program stakeholders
-Be aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
Qualifications/Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline or related area
2. Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and across professional and executive levels of an organization; ability to influence and coordinate resources in support of program objectives
3. Solid understanding of the Ultrasound, or other similar diagnostic medical device, business.
4. Project management experience within an engineering or research environment; demonstrated execution at meeting project goals while satisfying quality, performance, schedule, and budget CTQ’s
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Characteristics

1. Ph.D. Degree within appropriate Engineering/Science discipline or related area
2. Fluency in at least one language (in addition to English) of a country that engages regularly in research with GEHC.
3. At least 3 years of experience in an R&D role in Ultrasound and/or a clinical research role in GEHC
4. Familiarity with regulatory standards for research, particularly in US, Europe, and/or China
5. Self-starter, energizing, results oriented and able to multi-task
6. Demonstrated clear thinking & problem solving abilities: successfully led cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations function involving process improvement; able to quickly grasp new ideas
