Role Summary/Purpose
The Application Engineer will support all chemical equipment engineering activities including project assessments, site reviews, programming, project execution, and troubleshooting for the equipment used to dose and control the application of chemicals to process streams.
Essential Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
o Providing extensive equipment support, leading installation fulfillment, control logic programming, and general hardware and software support.
o Troubleshooting hardware and software problems for customers and/or the W&PT field sales force via telephone or on-site at customer locations.
o Understanding Installation Qualification, Operating Qualification, Performance Qualification requirements to meet customer requirements and expectations.
o Coordinating with CMS Field Service Representatives and CMS Account Management team to resolve service call issues in a timely manner.
o Excellent and concise communication with customer and in-house personnel, verbally and in writing.
Qualifications/Requirements
o College degree in Electrical, Electronic Technology, Mechanical Engineering or other related Engineering majors.
o At least 3 years of plant or maintenance experience, preferably in an analytical instrument field repair environment.
o Strong technical, mathematical and customer service skills. Cognitive and clear communication skills to efficiently support the service process.
o General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry and safety. Vision, manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to service instruments and handle electrical equipment. Ability to learn applicable company procedures within a reasonable time from start of employment.
o Computer proficiency is required with at least word processing and spreadsheets, and basic data base knowledge.
o Willing to travel up to 60%
o Strong verbal and written communication skills
o Self-motivated, ability to drive projects to completion with minimal oversight, while demonstrating significant problem solving ability with an unfailing dedication to deadlines and commitments
Desired Characteristics
o Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to team projects in a sales environment.
o Understanding of Water Treatment processes, controls and programming, and chemical applications
o Ability to make good business decisions based on risk reward analysis and GE’s business objectives
o Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate workload effectively.
About Us
GE announced they signed a definitive agreement to sell the Water & Process Technologies business to SUEZ, a services and solutions company with global operations primarily in water and waste management. The deal will be subject to customary closing conditions such as regulatory review and appropriate consultation and we expect this to be complete by mid-2017. Water & Process Technologies will operate business as usual through this process and will continue to meet its commitments to its valued customers and employees.
