Role Summary/Purpose

This role will work to develop, implement, and improve processes and technologies in our machining department. This role will be responsible for ensuring proper capacity for the department and working to drive substantial productivity on existing products as well as extensive focus on integrating new products successfully into the department. Role will collaborate globally and be the AME global leader for machining process technology.
Essential Responsibilities

• Drive improved product quality, capacity, and productivity by identifying manufacturing issues, developing advanced manufacturing cost-effective solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production of new methods, processes, tooling, and equipment. 
• Work closely and collaboratively with design engineering, other manufacturing sites, as well as central AME teams including to deliver best practices and solutions to the factory.

Manufacturing Process Technology 
• Work to implement improvements in machining through achieving longer tool life and higher material removal rates though optimizations of CNC programs, improved tooling selections, and optimizing equipment and process flow. 
• Implement improvements to plant fiberglass winding, ovens, machining, and material handling practices and technologies into new and existing products. Seek out best practices at trade shows and benchmarking other sites. 

Lean / Six Sigma 
• Strive to be a leader of Six Sigma methodologies and leverage data driven approaches to improve productivity and implement robust process controls to improve reliability and reduce defects 
• Conducts statistical studies to analyze and reduce the variation present manufacturing processes through Six Sigma, GR&R, and DOE’s. 
• Ensure early focus on manufacturability in NPI and/or Advanced Technology programs. Drive rigor in process capability assessment, process layout, process qualification, tooling and equipment development and QMS Design Transfer execution to maximize yield, streamline process flow, and increase efficiencies. 

1. Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type / position. 

2. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines. 
3. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical degree and 3 years experience or Associates Degree and 5 years experience or High School diploma with 7 years of experience in production, engineering or troubleshooting of PC/server based systems 
2. Understanding of IT QA and testing procedures 
3. Good analytical and planning skills

Desired Characteristics

1. 6-sigma DMAIC & DFSS certified 
2. Prior CNC and Lathe programming experience 
3. Prior work with Fiberglass manufacturing 
4. Prior experience with CNC and Tooling Optimization 
5. Solid working knowledge of GEHC QMS procedures for GMP  
6. Demonstrated program or project management skills 
7. Demonstrated experience owning production processes / growing capability in yield and quality 
8. Experience working with global teams 
 9. OMLP or Edison Graduate
