Internship - Advanced Cryptography M/F

The advanced cryptography team is one of the team of the security labs of Gemalto. One of the mission of the advanced cryptography team is the study of advanced cryptographic primitives such as homomorphic encryption, whitebox cryptography, post-quantum cryptography (lattices, error-correcting codes, hash functions, multivariate cryptography), blockchain technologies. Besides this mission, the advanced cryptographic team provides expertise in cryptography within the security laboratory and to all Business groups of Gemalto.

The main mission of the internship is to analyse the feasibility of using FHE (Fully Homomorphic Encryption) for practical uses such as, for example, a modular exponentiation that would be protected using FHE, another example is a weakened version of a block-cipher where the number of rounds is reduced and that would be protected using FHE.

A week in the life of

a trainee

- You will get acquainted with the domain of Fully Homomorphic Encryption and with the evaluation of the depth of a circuit for a cryptographic primitive.
- You will have to implement a cryptographic primitive using FHE (by using a crypto library such as HeLib) and to provide performance evaluation (timing, memory and code size) of the implemented solution.
- In a second stage, you will have to study the decryption phase of FHE which is a tricky part of FHE when used for a whitebox cryptographic use.

You are a student in Master 2 or last year of engineering school
Your specialty is computer science, cryptography, C implementation
You speak French and English fluently
