Job description

Tax Advisor - National Tax (Fiduciary Trust Tax Services - Center for Trust Tax Compliance) (Manager) (Multiple Positions), Ernst & Young U.S. LLP, Dallas, TX.

Prepare basic to moderately complex tax information statements, income tax returns and/or reports including fiduciary income tax, charitable trust reporting, estate tax, gift tax and generation skipping transfer tax. Advise clients on fiduciary trust tax issues, including planning, compliance and reporting. Review tax information statements and tax returns prepared by lesser experienced team members, including 1099 tax information statements and tax returns including Forms 1041 and state income tax returns for trusts and estates, identifying generation skipping transfer tax events that may require further consultation to determine and fulfill additional tax reporting requirements. Review and interpret wills and trust documents to determine fiduciary tax reporting requirements, confirm beneficiary allocations, and identify matters that may require additional research and review by a subject matter professional such as determination of state tax nexus and application of state trust statutes for income and principal purposes. Communicate complex tax issues to colleagues, clients and non-tax professionals to enable the evaluation and review of tax compliance requirements central to fulfilling fiduciary tax reporting obligations. Identify service enhancements that will improve tax deliverables and engagement economics via improved accuracy of bridged data, educating engagement team members to provide for increased knowledge of clients’ trust accounting systems to provide for more insightful client communication and guidance.
Manage and motivate teams of professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds. Consistently deliver quality client services by monitoring progress. Demonstrate in-depth technical capabilities and professional knowledge. Maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Cultivate business development opportunities.

Full time employment, Monday– Friday,40hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Tax, Law, Economics or a related field and three years of experience working on basic to moderately complex tax information statements, tax returns and/or reports; or alternatively a Master’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Tax, Law, Economics or a related field and a two years of experience working on basic to moderately complex tax information statements, tax returns and/or reports.

Must have 2 years of experience with trust tax software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and/or ONESOURCE Trust Tax.

Must have 2 years of experience with fiduciary tax law concepts and with preparing U.S. Federal and State fiduciary tax returns.

Must have 2 years of experience communicating with client liaisons and/or trust administration teams on tax matters.

Must have 2 years of experience with income tax returns with complex pass-through investments, including family limited partnerships, publicly traded partnerships, and hedge funds.

Must have 1 year of experience reviewing tax returns prepared by junior tax professionals.

Must have CPA certification, Enrolled Agent certification, or state bar membership.

Requires travel up to 15%, to serve client needs.
