QUEST is an interdisciplinary team of economists, statisticians, and business analysts that assists corporations, governments, and industry groups with a variety of sophisticated quantitative analyses. Our team provides clients in a wide range of industries and geographies with services related to policy-focused economic analysis, statistical sampling, survey design and implementation, and other quantitative analytics. QUEST also functions as one of EY’s internal think tanks, providing analyses of important issues to inform our clients’ business strategies. At QUEST, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a unique combination of leading economists at the forefront of public policy debates, statisticians designing cutting-edge sampling techniques, and survey specialists developing innovative approaches to collecting information from businesses and customers.

The opportunity

As an intern, you’ll provide quantitative services across our three service lines – economic and policy analysis, statistical sampling and data analytics, and surveys. You’ll need to balance multiple tasks, be flexible, and meet various project deadlines.

As part of a diverse practice, you’ll receive valuable learning opportunities and on-the-job training in a dynamic work environment. If you’re looking for a quantitative career and want to be exposed to a broad range of important projects, this is the opportunity for you.

What to expect

You’ll need to be flexible and able to learn quickly in order to work across our three service lines. Your work on a typical project will typically include participating in initial client calls and writing client proposals; collecting, cleaning, and manipulating data; working with team members to understand economic and tax issues; programming in SAS and Excel; interpreting results; and preparing client deliverables and reports.

Typical projects

·  Providing quantitative analyses of state and local, federal, and global policy issues
·  Developing tools to evaluate cost/revenue implications of proposed tax policies
·  Building models to estimate the economic impact of industries, companies, and new facilities
·  Designing statistical samples to estimate federal or state tax benefit
·  Reviewing and validating modeling or analytic methods
·  Designing survey questionnaires, implementing surveys, and analyzing and reporting results
·  Programming in SAS and building models in Excel

To qualify for the role you must have

·  Excellent analytical and communication skills, both written and oral
·  Upper level coursework in economics, statistics, or related areas
·  High level of academic performance (3.4 GPA and above)
·  Computer skills, including experience with statistical programming software and database management
·  Relevant experience through summer employment or research internships
·  A driver’s license valid in the United States

What we look for

We’re looking for someone who is excited about learning sophisticated types of quantitative analyses. We’re also looking for someone who is interested in learning about tax law, economic policy, different specialized industries, how to meaningfully use and interpret data, and the intersection of business and government. If you’re someone who likes to conquer challenging projects and enjoys applying your quantitative skills, then this role is ideal for you.
