The opportunity

We are looking for a Legal Counsel – Technology within the General Counsel’s Office team in our Sydney office. This role is offered on a flexible full time basis.

Your key responsibilities
·  Manage, negotiate and draft a wide variety of legal agreements;
·  Work with our business IT professionals to provide advice, negotiate and draft the terms of information technology agreements such as software licences, managed services agreements and reseller agreements;
·  Provide timely and proactive advice and guidance to the business on varied commercial legal and technology issues, including protection of intellectual property, cloud-based solutions, open source licensing; maintenance & hosting services, information security, liability and risk mitigation;
·  From time to time, negotiate and draft commercial contracts used by our business across all our service lines including engagement agreements, consultancy agreements, master services agreements, global framework agreements, procurement contracts, sponsorship agreements and strategic business relationship agreements; and
·  Collaborate with our colleagues locally and around the world on issues relating to complex global technology agreements, initiatives and projects.

Skills and attributes for success
·  Between 3-5 years post admission experience gained in a top or leading mid-tier firm and/or in-house experience;
·  Proven expertise in:
·  technology, telecommunications, intellectual property, procurement and commercial contracts;
·  negotiating and drafting of technology contracts such as software licenses, managed services agreements and reseller agreements;
·  resolving commercialisation and issues relating to complex IP licensing, open source software
·  Ability to provide strategic commercial advice to stakeholders in the Firm
