Tasks & responsibilities

As an Assistant Manager in the EY GDS Indirect Tax Center, you will actively work on the finalized deliverables on projects/services in the domain of Indirect Tax / VAT. Your main responsibilities as an Assistant Manager are:

Act as point of contact for the VAT Con

· 
troller (Manager) and Process Owner ('Senior Manager')

· 
Identify issues and opportunities to continuously improve the VAT compliance processes.

· 
Proposing improvement possibilities to raise effectiveness and efficiency of the work processes.

· 
Assist the client serving team with resolution of any out of scope activities

· 
Maintenance of technology tools so as to ensure all returns are archived at the end of the compliance cycle

· 
Support the Reviewer ('Senior') in case of issues encountered during the preparation of the returns

· 
Final review of the periodical indirect tax compliance calendar and sending this to client

· 
High level knowledge and experience of a local country Indirect Tax Compliance

· 
Understanding of Global Indirect Tax Compliance and the associated processes

· 
Preparation of update calls with client (agenda of client call)

· 
Coordinator between GDS and VAT Controller & Process Owner

· 
Understand what opportunities are out there that might be relevant to your clients from a GCR Indirect Tax perspective

· 
Fully understand the scope of work on your particular client to identify if anything we do is "out of scope"

· 
Seek to get involved in drafting emails to clients for out of scope work

· 
Work collaboratively with the VAT Controller in identifying opportunities

· 
Be inquisitive about what our clients do, the problems and challenges they have by understanding their business

· 
Broaden and deepen your relationship with your client contact

· 
Follow up on legislative changes and business changes in order to ensure that the systems and/or processes are updated.

· 
VAT compliance advisory and VAT audit support.

· 
Understand client's business

· 
Final review of indirect tax returns

· 
Stay up-to-date regarding market changes and develop a broader knowledge around your client portfolio.

· 
Maintain long-term collaborative and profitable relationships with your client and pro-actively identify and inform of possible new missions or opportunities in the existing portfolio

· 
Actively participate to the training and coaching session of your development plan and be responsible for the development of your own technical knowledge.

We are looking for candidates with the following background:

· 
A Bachelor/Master degree in economics, potentially with a supplementary degree in fiscal matters .

· 
At least 4-5 years of relevant professional experience in European VAT and VAT compliance required

· 
Good knowledge of general VAT principles

· 
Fluent in English – written and spoken

· 
Dynamic, innovative & problem resolution focus with good communication skills

· 
Team player with project management skills

· 
Excellent knowledge about functioning/usage of ERP-systems

· 
Shows great interest in working with multi-country clients

· 
Is capable of working independently

· 
Is able to detect potential opportunities where EY could assist

· 
Delegation of work

· 
Proactively involves all team members in client discussions, particularly around out of scope work and new opportunities

· 
Basic knowledge of the other services:
