The opportunity

We are looking for a data scientist to join the Emerging Technology team in our TTT business. This role will focus on applying common data science techniques and emerging machine learning approaches to complex problems involving tax-related data within EY’s Tax business in the UK. Working with the head of Emerging Technology and the team’s Senior Data Scientist, this role will enable the individual to gain significant practical experience and business knowledge.

Our Emerging Technology team has strong links with other advanced technology and innovation teams in EY both in the UK and worldwide, including the Global AI Lab and the Advanced Technology Tax Lab, both in the USA.

Your key responsibilities
·  Working with stakeholders within TTT, the wider business and with clients to identify opportunities for using data and emerging technologies like AI to solve business challenges
·  Carrying out tasks associated with data wrangling, cleansing and exploration
·  Researching and implementing custom statistical models and machine learning algorithms for classification, regression and transformation
·  Executing proof-of-concepts and pilots to evolve an idea into a successful prototype or solution 
·  Coordinating with TTT’s engineering and software development team (the ‘Hive’) to help integrate solutions into their continuous business / process / software sprint cycle. 
·  Communicating results and ideas to key stakeholders and decision makers 
Skills and attributes for success
·  Proven experience as a data scientist, being able to demonstrate the application of common statistical and machine learning techniques to business problems
·  Strong proficiency in Python or R
·  Excellent communication and presentation skills
·  The ability to work and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of software developers, data scientists, data engineers and subject-matter professionals from TTT and the wider tax practice.
To qualify for the role you must have
·  Familiarity with cloud-based data science and machine learning services and APIs (e.g. Microsoft Azure)
·  Familiarity with web application development (e.g. using Shiny)
·  Knowledge of sequence-to-sequence models, or the use of RNNs/LSTMs for text processing
·  Knowledge of Deep Neural Networks and frameworks such as Tensorflow, Keras, PyTorch   
·  Knowledge of APIs, Git.
