Tax Advisor in EY’s R&D Incentives Practice 

An exciting opportunity to work as part of the Business Tax Advisory group of EY in a diverse team of highly successful tax and industry specialists in Bengaluru. You will support companies in claiming the Research and Development (R&D) tax incentives provided in the UK, that were introduced to encourage companies to invest in innovation.  

Position description:

The team covers clients across the UK and works from a number of UK hubs. After success in building a small, dedicated team based in Bengaluru, EY are looking to expand the team. 

As a Tax Advisor in the team you will be working with a variety of very high-profile clients (FTSE 100 and 250 multinational companies), who are at the front line in developing cutting edge technology which is helping the UK to stay as a market leader by encouraging investment into R&D.

You will be required to work closely with clients’ finance and tax departments, your clients will be from all different sectors. Working with the EY Engineering or IT team you will be assisting and/or leading the development of the tax aspect of the UK R&D claim and making sure of compliance against tax legislation. 

This role will require you to work in close collaboration within a team-based environment. It will also require you to have strong data analysis skills, report writing skills, interpersonal and communication skills, and project management skills.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has an accounting or tax qualification and anywhere from 3-5 years of work experience in UK R&D claims or UK corporation tax. Your key responsibilities:

·  To interrogate, analyse and assess client data, building robust custom methodologies to calculate qualifying R&D expenditure 
·  To contribute to the efficient and successful delivery of R&D tax services to the client, ensuring technical excellence and a practical/business driven approach taken
·  Build relationships both within the firm and externally with clients, identifying opportunities and managing expectations
·  Day-to-day client and team liaison

Skills and attributes for success:

·  Experienced UK corporate tax or R&D tax practitioner
·  Proven ability to read and interpret existing and new tax statute
·  Strong Excel capability including use of VLOOKUP and IF functions and pivot tables, including manipulating large and complex datasets
·  Ideally, a basic capability or understanding of Alteryx
·  Team player; ability to integrate with new teams quickly and build effective relationships at all levels
·  Ability to plan and prioritise multiple engagements, deadlines and stakeholders
·  Ability to deliver quality output
·  Strong technical skills and keenness to develop further
·  Ability to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to consult 
·  Ability to solve problems creatively and pragmatically
