Position summary

The Machine Learning group at Ericsson Research in Stockholm is a research group working on all aspects of data; storing and retrieving data, statistics and data mining, Deep learning, computing in distributed systems and visualization of insights.

This thesis wor aims to deploy advance predictive analytics on real-world manufacturing industries to enable degitelization of world class industries and increase tracebility to improve flexibility, efficiency and sustainability in their manufacturing process by utilization of 5G connectivity.

The research will be conducted in an ongoing project on 5G for world class manufacturing in collaboration with Swedish industry and academia.

The thesis topic is about predicting failures for predictive maintenance constructed using machine learning and advanced analytics on data gathered from (IoT) connected manufacturing running system combined with operational processing data to automate and optimize the complex operation and maintenance processes.

The thesis would involve the following steps (can be adjusted to research interest of the candidate):

·  Literature review, identifying relevant machine learning concepts and algorithms.
·  Analyze available network traffic dataset and/or generate suitable data sets
·  Implement the machine learning concepts in prototypes
·  Analyze the performance of the new concepts and compare with existing concepts

Qualifications

We are looking for an open-minded student who seeks a challenging research work within connectivity and industry sectors with the freedom to propose and develop your own ideas. To be successful in this thesis work the candidate would need the following:

·  MSc studies in Computer Science or similar area.
·  Excellent skills in programming languages (Java, Python or Scala).
·  Excellent skills in data analytics and machine learning
·  Knowledge about big data platforms such as Hadoop and Spark.
·  Like to build end to end prototypes and concepts

Be fluent in English.
