Job Description
To support the expansion of ENGIE Impact in the EMEAI region, and bring the highest standard of consulting services to ENGIE Impact’s clients, we are looking for the following profile (based in Brussels (Belgium)):

Strategy and Energy Market Analyst

You like to be challenged on complex energy-related questions, you are creative in finding solutions for the energy and decarbonization transition. As a Strategy and Energy Market Analyst, you are part of a transversal team, focusing on projects for internal ENGIE clients.

Together with project teammates, you design and build quantitative models to evaluate market opportunities, risk and regulatory challenges, and decarbonization strategies (at country/company level). You notably apply those concepts to structure the optimal integration of new assets (renewables, hydrogen, e-fuels, electromobility, energy storage…)

You actively participate to the reputation of ENGIE Impact by your personal involvement in the projects.

The role will require you to:

Provide advisory services in the field of Energy Economics and Decarbonization

·  Support ENGIE’s functional and operational entities to better understand and manage their strategic or operational challenges in an increasingly complex and uncertain environment.
·  Provide techno-economic analysis of energy systems.
·  Analyze and model carbon footprint and decarbonization roadmaps.

Build expertise and contribute to projects in one or more of the following fields

·  Design and implementation of quantitative solutions to support energy trading and finance, including long term capacity expansion models, and short-term Unit-Commitment/dispatch models for large-scale systems under uncertainty.
·  Energy system modelling, simulation and optimization for the techno-economic analysis of multidisciplinary cases, with a specific focus on green hydrogen, synthetic fuels and their applications.
·  Carbon markets and decarbonization policy instruments.
·  Improve and substantiate the understanding of market fundamentals for various energy carriers and advise corporate strategy and the business units on these topics

Participate actively to business and organization development

·  Contribute to the realization of proposals
·  Support content development, asset creation, and business development efforts

·  You have an University degree in engineering, applied economics, mathematics/physics or business administration, with strong interest in the energy sector. A research experience or a post-graduate business degree is an asset.
·  You have good knowledge/experience of micro-economics, engineering of power systems and/or techno-economic analysis of energy systems. Following skills are an asset:
·  Optimization, operational research or data science
·  Carbon accounting standards and carbon markets
·  You have good analytical and presentation skills, able to synthesize complex concepts, and used to work on quantitative issues with simulation models, preferably in the energy business.
·  You are recognized for your interpersonal skills and capacity to build relationships with clients and colleagues, build team spirit and work in a multi-cultural team.
·  You are proficient with MS Tools (Excel, PowerPoint). Being familiar with programming environments (GAMS, R, python, etc.) are an asset.
·  You speak English fluently, other languages are considered as a plus.
