ENGIE are recruiting for a Shift Plant Operator to be based in Birmingham (B25 8DW). This is a permanent and full-time role which involves shift working (a rotating shift pattern applies, which is based on 4 on 4 off and will include day, night and weekend work). General Overview
The position of Shift Plant Operator is for a new build Energy from Waste facility located in Birmingham. Working directly under the Shift Team Leader, the post holder will work as a member of a small shift team and will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste facility.
The Shift Plant Operator may be required to deputise for the Shift Team Leader during periods of extended absence, to manage and deliver plant operations.
Key Accountabilities
Operating the plant to ensure compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation.
Carrying out plant-related routine duties to ensure plant performance, availability and reliability is maintained to a high level.
Using a SCADA system, you will be required to start, stop and monitor turbines, boilers, pumps, water treatment plant and other balance of plant.
Performing plant walk rounds and daily checks to ensure equipment is operating correctly and efficiently.
Keeping operational logs and plant records as requested by the Plant Manager.
Carrying out daily boiler water sampling and chemical analysis and completing remedial actions as detailed by Shift Team Leader.
Undertaking any miscellaneous tasks as directed by the Shift Team Leader.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous experience in an engineering role at a power generation/energy from waste/industrial process facility
Experience with a permit-to-work system and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation
Competent in all aspects of CHP or power plant operations
Willingness to undertake training to better understand the plant, processes and procedures involved in operating a power station
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Good team working and engagement skills
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Good IT and numeracy skills
Desirable
ISOH or NEBOSH qualification
Front end loader certifications
Full UK or EU driver's licence
