Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE

Organization

Within the Division Business Innovation Oversight (BIO), the mission of Market Modeling & Market View (3MV) is to build and maintain GEM competitive advantage by an in depth understanding of commodity markets. We sit on the trading floor and cover coal, gas, power and oil markets. We develop fundamental market analysis to define GEM market views and to propose trading strategies or business ideas.

 
Role

3MV supports business decisions of GEM by analyzing how fundamental developments could

impact asset valuation, hedging and risk management.

This position focuses on fundamental

power market analysis in the context of Dolphin project. To develop green power offers, GEM is contracting green long term power purchase agreement (PPA) with renewable developers.

 
Main activities
·  Advice GEM about market evolution impact on asset valuation and risk management – with a focus on long term green PPA
·  Analyze structural developments of the power markets resulting from renewable penetration, regulation, new technologies (batteries etc) and load evolution
·  Manage and contribute to projects related to fundamental power market analysis. Validate data sources; develop fundamental models or tools with a focus on long term trends
·  Contribute to geographical extension of 3MV scope (Spain, Nordic countries)
·  Develop close relationship with GEM entities and provide some real time support to traders for green PPA valuation
·  Collaborate with operational & risk teams to better answer and anticipate their needs
·  Promote team spirit and collaboration  

YOUR PROFILE

 

Education & professional background

·  Engineer, university degree in mathematics, science or computer science (or equivalent experience)
·  3-5 years working experience in the energy sector

Technical, Operational & Business Skills

·  In depth understanding of power markets and renewable
·  Strong analytical and programming skills: Data analysis, ability to build models
·  Quantitative skills: Pricing, valuation methodologies, data science, statistics/machine learning
·  SQL, Python or other programming languages
 

Behavioral skills

·  Good communication skills: Ability to explain complex issues; ability to work in multicultural environment
·  Strong interest for innovation and new technologies
·  Reactivity, creativity, initiative, ability to cope with tight deadlines, team spirit

Languages
·  English: fluent
·  Spanish or other languages is a plus
