Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

Gas Supply and Asset Management (GASAM) is the division of GEM in charge of managing and developing Engie gas midstream activities in Europe. Within this division, Asset Optimization & Trading Gas department optimizes on markets assets’ portfolio and final customers’ sourcing.

Within this department, thePhysical Risk Management team is particularly in charge of an optimal management of customers’ sourcing towards future physical uncertainties on gas consumption or delivery, as climate or supplier’s shortfall, in line with public service obligations, for the next 3 years.

 

  

 

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE

 

 

The management of physical risk includes operational activities on one side, and specific studies on the other side.

Operational activities are realized by the different team members, one after the other :
·  check that the management strategies in place within the department allow physical balance and final customers’ sourcing in case of occurrence of defined physical risks ; if not make them evolve. Will this management allow to face a supplier shortfall, for instance ? ;
·  propose the most optimal management strategies possible for these physical risks. How to modify the management of our assets to extract more value, and be able to face a cold peak with reduced cost ? ;
·  define limits of use of assets to face physical risks. To which point can we optimize storages and long term supply contract in the coming weeks, without compromising continuity of supply of gas for the weeks after ?

Depending on assigned specialties, the physical optimization engineer will also realize specific studies in order to :

maintain the framework of physical risks to consider up-to-date ;

size the assets required to face these risks : annual storage subscription, needs to buy or sale transport capacities all along the year ;

assess physical impacts of long term supply contract renegotionContribute to the answer to regulatory inquiries on security of supply ;

contribute to the calibration of French tariff formula establishing the price of gas for regulated customers ;

improve our tools and modelisation hypothesis.

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

Education & professional background

·  Engineering degree or equivalent.
·  Ideally with one or two first experiences in gas or energy activities.

Technical & Business skills

·  Mathematical and financial competencies.
·  Good synthesis and analysis skills.
·  Rigorous.
·  At ease with modern digital tools.

 

Behavioral skills

·  You like team work and have good relational skills.
·  Openness and adaptation capacities.
·  Proactive.
