Global Energy Management (GEM) is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

What will be your role

Organization

The mission of Market Modeling & Market View (3MV) is to build and maintain GEM competitive advantage by an in depth understanding of commodity markets. We sit on the trading floor and cover coal, gas, power and oil markets. We develop fundamental market analysis to define GEM market views and to propose trading strategies or business ideas.

Role

The meteo analyst is a meteorologist with interest for data sciences. He analyses multiple sources of weather forecasts to develop his own opinion. He contributes to activities related to weather forecast of the main variables impacting energy markets: energy consumption as well as renewable production. He supports the energy market analysts, the traders and GEM front entities to develop directional market views and maximize the portfolio value.

Main activities

His activities cover the following:

·  Develop close relationship with traders and provide some real time support,
·  Set up and publish regular and ad-hoc reports,
·  Contribute to the roadmap for future evolution of models and tools anticipating business needs,
·  Take ongoing responsibility for business impact of these models,
·  Support weather data management,
·  Promote team spirit and collaboration.

Your profile

 

Education & professional background

·  In depth understanding of Numerical Weather Prediction models and weather data
·  Experience in weather forecast analysis in an energy business context
·  Experience in a trading environment: ability to work with traders, to translate weather analyses into propositions/strategies and to communicate them clearly
·  Analytical and programming skills

Behavioral skills

·  Good communication skills: ability to explain and convey messages about complex issues and models; ability to work in multi-cultural environment
·  Reactivity, creativity, initiative, ability to cope with tight deadlines, team spirit

Languages
·  French: fluent
·  English: fluent
