Position Summary

The HR Generalist provides general HR employee relations and first level leadership consulting regarding performance management and progressive discipline. The Generalist will assist in the execution of major HR programs (such as Merit, Talent Management strategies, and Talent Acquisition) This position will be the first point of contact to internal clients for HR matters that fall into the Business Partner portfolio of services.  

Role Description

• Performs employee relations tasks which may involve problem resolution, enhancing communication, training and career development in multiple locations. Work closely with management and provide guidance in resolving and mediating employee relations matters. Investigate employee relations issues and provide sound guidance in resolving concerns.
• Administers the company discipline procedure. Guide and assist managers in the development and issuance of performance, behavior and attendance discipline, including warnings and the follow-up and monitoring of employee progress as well as maintain appropriate employee disciplinary records.
• Monitor and facilitate the annual goal planning and review process for employees; Train management on performance evaluation applications. Coach management in writing effective evaluations.
• During regular interactions with managers is responsible for ensuring job descriptions are updated and are an accurate reflection of incumbent positions and is provided to Comp & Benefits team for evaluation, leveling, and library maintenance.
• Facilitate new hire employee orientation as part of the ENGIE Insight HR team. Ensure all appropriate documentation is received and properly filed. Oversees on boarding processes for the Portland and remote sites as assigned across ENGIE Insight. Responsible for ensuring consistency in practices in partnership with other HR colleagues across all business units within ENGIE Insight.
• Preparing, reviewing, interpreting, analyzing a variety of data, information and reports, and making recommendations depending on findings at the direction of a Sr. HR Business Partner depending on client issues.
• Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
• Responsible for exit interviews, provides the data for ENGIE Insight wide tracking, and works with HR Operations to conduct deeper attrition assessment if required.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Role Competencies

• A bachelor's degree and 3 to five 5 years of Human Resources HR generalist and/or employee relations experience. Preferred proficiency in and experience dealing with HR related laws and policies.
• PHR certification preferred.
• Familiarity with HR Business Partner model preferred.
• Knowledge of ADP preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Strong ability to analyze, evaluate and solve problems.
• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and prioritize workflow in a fast paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to work with all levels of staff and management.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
• Desire to coach and develop others to ensure “best in class” delivery of HR services
• Knowledge of MS Office and HRIS system.
• Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
