Background
Wintel Engineer required to join our fast-paced break/fix support team.
Role Description
This role is suitable for an engineer with good all-round Windows Server support experience
Overall Role Purpose
Good Analytical and troubleshooting skills i.e. can own and run an issue with minimal intervention from others
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
· Troubleshooting Windows Server and network problems, diagnose and solve hardware/software Incidents/problems
· Provide support to the business
· Provide solution(s)/work around(s) to incidents and Problems
· Manage and evolve polices, processes and procedures
· Maintain and support new applications and Infrastructure
· Work to SLA thresholds for incidents for multiple customers
· Prioritising and managing several open cases and mini projects at one time
· Supporting a range of server environments including various Windows Server O/Ss, VMWare, ESX, XenApp, XenDesktop
· Managing Active Directory
· Administering Domain Controllers
· Create, manage and evolve polices, processes and procedures
· Work to SLA thresholds for incident(s) and problem(s)
· Self-Development.
· Adhering to internal business processes.
Key Attributes
· Experience of supporting a variety of Windows client and server operating systems
· Familiarity with VMWare (vSphere, vCenter etc)
· Experience of Cloud Technologies / Infrastructure
· Knowledge of monitoring alerting, logging and status messages
· Troubleshooting network issues
· Fundamental networking knowledge – IP, DNS, IP routing, network address translation etc.
· Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with Windows Server operating systems
· ITIL– must understand principles
Out of Hours
· Standby / Out of Hours overtime may be required at times
