Under the responsibility of the Danone VP Standards and Risk Management, the Department QFS Standards & Risk Management (SRM) has the mission TO ENSURE THAT DANONE CREATES, MANUFACTURES AND DELIVERS ITS PRODUCTS EVERYDAY WITH NO COMPROMISE ON QUALITY & FOOD SAFETY BY STRICTLY FOLLOWING THE DANONE COMPLIANCE POLICY AND ANTICIPATING QUALITY & FOOD SAFTY RISKS.

 

As a part of the QFS SRM department, the Packaging Food Safety Risk Assessor, who is reporting to the Chemical Safety Director, will detect, assess chemical & food safety risks and contribute to the deployment of standards to ensure an end-to-end packaging chemical risks management in order to secure consumer safety and Danone’s licence to operate.

 

The six-month mission is designed to be based at Danone's research and innovation centers in Gif-sur-Yvette or Utrecht, but we have some flexibility allowed for partially remote work and/or from other Danone locations, such as Amsterdam, depending on your situation.

 

This role is structured for a 6-month mission. We will consider performance and organizational needs for potential longer-term opportunities, based on the context and available possibilities

 

Main Missions

·  To conduct chemical & food safety risk assessment applied to food packaging and other food contact materials in order to
·  support the definition of best-in-class specifications & standards,
·  secure new product launches (safe by design),
·  accompany Danone’s license to operate in the context of crises/incidents
·  As part of company’s Risk Anticipation activities, contribute to the tracking of new science, risk assessment methodologies and regulations on packaging & food contact safety risks relevant to the Danone portfolio  
·  Develop and drive risk communication in the context of quality & food safety risk management activities
·  Contribute to or drive cross-functional projects related to the areas food safety risk assessment and management applied to food packaging
·  Contribute to the continuous improvement of Danone Quality and Food Safety Management System
·  To be able to identify and engage when required with scientific experts, external scientific organizations and trade associations in order to support Danone’s food safety strategic objectives

Main responsibilities

·  Screening of the scientific & regulatory environment for potential emerging risks related to chemical safety, packaging materials and food contact materials
·  Capitalizing on the collected data to enrich the knowledge, to inform the internal stakeholders and to secure safe business continuity
·  Delivering clear and transparent chemical food safety risk assessments for Danone packaging & food contact materials enabling robust decision-making in all circumstances (innovation, incidents, crisis).
·  Creating databases and tools to support chemical food safety assessments.
·  Driving & contributing to the creation and update of best-in-class Quality & Food Safety standards, contributing to define the specifications requirements for sourcing for packaging raw materials, packaging finished articles and other food contact materials.
·  Supporting the evolution & maintenance for a robust Danone Quality & Food Safety Management System
·  Interfacing in networks internally to Danone business stakeholders and externally (suppliers, scientific experts & external advisors, scientific organization and trade associations),
·  Contributing to and animating internal quality & food safety education and training modules related to packaging materials and food contact materials safety

About you

The role requires:

·  Competencies in the areas of food safety science, toxicological, chemistry, biology and chemical & food safety risk assessment and proven track record experience in its application in an industrial context (minimum MSc level or equivalent)
·  Good knowledge of food safety and food contact materials regulations and compliance as well as food safety management
·  Good communication skills (including good proficiency in English) and being able to defend strong science-based positions
·  Autonomy and willingness to adapt within a fast-changing business environment
·  Demonstrated project management skills and stakeholder (corporate & local) management
·  On a need basis, ability to travel for few days to other Danone locations or technical conferences (around 10 days on a yearly basis)
