Poste et missions:
The Grains and Powders Team at the Northboro R&D Center in Northboro, Massachussets, USA, is looking to find someone to help the team improve and design better products. In this position you will work on numerically modeling the behavior of our abrasive products in operation.
Your main responsibilities will be :
- Working with an experienced engineer, interact with business R&D personnel to identify, analyze, and provide technical solutions for product development problems through mechanical testing, engineering simulation and analysis in the field of solid mechanics.
- Emphasis on application of mechanics of brittle and plastic materials, finite element analysis (using Abaqus), failure and fracture mechanics and analysis, material constitutive behaviors, heat transfer.
- Write and run computer simulations (using Python) regarding complex dynamic phenomenon
- Work with business R&D personnel to develop project SMART objective, approach, and deliverables. Manage projects to ensure the on time delivery of high quality results appropriate to the project goals.
- Report and document the analysis method, data, results, and conclusions as presentations and technical memos.
Profil:
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Strong background in solid mechanics (i.e. elasticity & plasticity theory, fracture mechanics, thermo-mechanical analysis and numerical methods).
- Prior experience with commercial finite element analysis software such as Abaqus or Ansys is required.
- Prior training and experience with material mechanical property characterization and instrumented mechanical testing is a plus.
- Programming skills in Python/C++/Fortran is highly desired.
- The ability to communicate effectively (in writing and orally) and presentation skills are critical.
