Position Description

CGI are recruiting for an Applications SME to work in our Defence and Intelligence business in support of a variety of key Projects and their Systems Engineering lifecycles.
We are looking for candidates willing to work from one of our offices in Bristol, Gloucester, Reading and Leatherhead. There will also be travel to, and work at, various client sites. Your future duties and responsibilities
You will be expected to provide Subject Matter Expertise in the Applications area of our Defence and Intelligence business. You’ll join a busy team assisting on projects with Requirements Analysis, technical support, architectural development, Architectural industry forums, trade studies, test, acceptance, and platform integration.
Specifically in this role you will be:
1) Working in an Agile environment, on transformational activities within Land projects.
2) Working with Chief Engineers within the MOD structures to ensure that Applications are appropriately designed in, implemented, governed and delivered.
3) Responsible for advising on Applications based changes across the programmes / projects.
4) Engaging, consulting and co-ordinating across the Authority and supplier stakeholders to provide Application design, assurance, and knowledge transfer.
5) Providing specialist advice on how Applications, their related infrastructure and Virtualisation and Cloud technologies can be adapted and implemented within the land tactical domain. Required qualifications to be successful in this role
You will need a solid understanding of architecting in support of MOD acquisition processes and applications. You’ll also ideally need experience of linking architecting to Benefits Realisation for MOD. If you have experience of MOD ISS and/or Army Command this would be very beneficial, as would any familiarity with Land Tactical CIS systems such as BOWMAN, FALCON, CORMORANT as you will be working on the next generation of systems. Knowledge of a wide range of applications covering military communications and secure data handling will be beneficial as well as an all-round knowledge of the Application Development Lifecycle.
