Your future duties and responsibilities
 Lead the development of a cutting-edge research project.
 Utilising AI technologies in the MoD's Intelligent Ship initiative via DSTL with specific emphasis on Tactical Navigation.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
 The successful candidate would be a key team member, influencing the selection of AI technologies and tools to fulfil the research requirement outcomes.
 Expertise in different types of AI approaches, including Supervised, Unsupervised and Reinforcement Learning.
 A track record of successfully applying these AI approaches to solve real world problems; and Degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering or a scientific discipline.
 Able to formulate training plans and data requirements; implement, monitor and refine AI training environments to achieve the optimum output; and be able to integrate the AI with other AIs, data services and HMI presentation layers/ services.
It would be desirable if the candidate can analyse the problem domain, understand the business operational context and the task to be addressed by the AI and be to be able to identify the best fit AI technology, performing a trade-off analysis if required where alternative solutions exist; to be able to devise algorithms.
