Cranes and Lifting appliances stand as critical structures in the marine and offshore energy industry. In the rapidly growing field of Lifting Appliances whereas new technology is continuously developed, Bureau Veritas goal is to deliver high-quality certification services to its clients, crane designers and crane manufacturers.

 

We are looking for a Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineer to work with our existing team of Lifting Appliances engineers. Applicant should demonstrate a strong structural analysis knowledge, and ideally some experience within the field of cranes & lifting appliances.

 

Job Requirements:

 

·  Assessment of marine lifting appliances structural design against BUREAU VERITAS rules or other recognized standards (new lifting appliances to be installed or existing appliances to be modified onboard ship / offshore floating units)
·  Technical assistance on lifting appliances already operating onboard ships / offshore units,
·  Structural Calculation of lifting appliances structure to be performed with in-house or external technical software (e.g. BV STEEL, FEM, etc.)
·  Operational technical support to BV network worldwide (design, surveys, installation onboard, tests)
·  Functional technical support to BV offices worldwide (e.g. training, qualification, technical consistency, supervision)
·  Contribution to BV Rules & Tools development

 

Profile:

 

Compulsory:

·  University degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical engineering (BSc/MSc/MEng or equivalent)
·  Good communication skills (good interpersonal skills in a multi-cultural environment, team spirit, open mind, adaptability)
·  Programming/computing language such as VB and Matlab are a plus
·  Analytical thinking
·  Good ability for reporting
·  Autonomy and can-do attitude
·  Mobility required (short missions in clients places or in BV network)
·  Fluent in standard and technical English

 

Following also appreciated:

·  Experienced in structure of lifting appliances
·  Experience in relevant International Standards and construction rules
·  French language
·  Experience in FEM would be an advantage
