Maintenance Mechanic/Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice – Peekskill, NY

 

Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Maintenance Mechanic Apprentice to perform duties to install, maintain and repair equipment at the BASF Peekskill Manufacturing Site.  Tasks include complex process equipment installation, maintenance troubleshooting and repairs utilizing advanced skills in pipefitting, structural steel, pneumatic, hydraulic, rigging and other millwright work on rotating and fixed equipment such as process machinery, tanks/pumps/agitators, furnaces, boilers and general building & grounds maintenance.  Perform basic welding and fabrication; assist other mechanics in mechanical assignments as required.  Operate forklift truck and other mobile equipment as required.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Formula for Success


Using your High School or Trade School Diploma, or equivalent, you will work from complicated drawings, design specifications and/or utilizing good maintenance practices and ingenuity to solve problems. You will work in coordination with multi-craft maintenance activities, receive and act upon Supervisor’s written and/or verbal instructions, notify Supervisor of status of work and communicate to Supervisor deficiencies in equipment and/or repair information. You will maintain excellent housekeeping practices throughout the workplace, communicate all problems or difficulties to the supervisor, and utilize current technology as required to perform duties.  You will enter and comfortably work within confined spaces, maintain and update necessary records as instructed, use basic computer programs, and learn and maintain computer skills to support BASF programs.

Preferred Certifications, knowledge and experience may include:
·  Further education in the mechanical field  
·  Prior working experience in a chemical, refining, or manufacturing facility    
·  Experience in the safe and proper use of maintenance hand tools and power tools, diagnostic instruments.  
·  Knowledge of and skill in the basic use of shop equipment such as metal lathe and milling machine in fabrication and repair work.
