We are seeking a professional like you to join our team in Southfield, MI. You will work in a high-pressure environment with the goal of meeting demanding conditions of the OEM coatings business.

Formula for Success


Leveraging your education in chemistry or other technical discipline and your experience in the coatings industry, formulate paint based on established guidelines in collaboration with colleagues in Mexico, Germany, and Japan. You will work in a lab to make paint samples, evaluate the samples for performance, and identify the adjustment necessary to match standard per customer tolerances. Your excellent organizational skills with an ability to manage priorities and multi-task will be essential as you work in a lab to make and test paint samples to internal and customer specifications. You will also use these skills to evaluate formulas for workability and film performance to ensure they meet customer requirements. Your excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with the customer will serve you well as you travel to the Greenville site to follow manufacturing process on new formulations. You will help to identify and troubleshoot issues related to scale up. Utilizing any knowledge you have in color and/or paint, you will resolve customer problems in the areas of appearance, workability, color, and film performance. Demonstrating your proven analytical and problem-solving skills, you will develop application methods to reproduce customer problems, design experiments to correct the problem, work with manufacturing to implement changes, report to the customer root cause and corrective actions, and visit customer line to better understand the problem. Applying your broad understanding of sciences and your ability to analyze complicated data and interpret it, you will assist internal manufacturing with batch manufacturing and optimization. You will also use this knowledge to assist customer facilities with the use of our products. Your strong computer skills (particularly in SAP) will be a valued asset as you work in SAP and other computer systems to establish codes, inspection plans, and manage formula changes.
