Job Title: Lead Java Engineer
Location: Radbroke, Knutsford

Our Barclays Channels Engineering division ensure we design and implement software with our customers as the driving focus. We have embraced the world of open source technologies to make sure we are as relevant as we can be in the fast pace world of technology. We want to be the pace setters for technology, rather than just keeping up.
As the Lead Java Engineer, you will be part of a wider team that is excited by coding, interested in DevOps and passionate about user experience. You will be responsible for end to end delivery for applications across web, mobile, telephony and contact center platforms. The applications you will delivery make use of the latest UI, container and API technologies, deployed onto cloud platforms.

What will you be doing?

• End to end delivery from the initial idea though to implementation of the features used by our customers and colleagues
• Delivering sensational Java across our exciting projects
• Promote and drive application best practice within the development team
• Keep stakeholders updated in terms of project timelines / updates
• Manage requirements to understand how both functional and non0functional aspects need to be met
• Ability to problem solve and successfully execute tasks
• Ensure all full duties and activities are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements.

What we're looking for:

• Extensive Java Development knowledge, preferably Java 8
• Extremely confident with Spring/Spring Boot
• Using Gradle / Maven packet manager for JavaScript
• Experience working in a TDD environment

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Creating RESTful Services / RPI's as well as consuming them
• Strong OOP experience
• Exposure to MongoDB / Cassandra
• Able to split your time performing management and exceptional coding

Where will you be working?

You will be working at our technology hub in the North West, located at Radbroke Hall in Knutsford. It's convenient for most individuals who live within a 35-mile radius, spanning from Liverpool, Chester, Manchester and Stoke. It's a lively atmosphere with large open plan offices, with everything you need on site including various catering options, Starbucks, Gym, onsite parking etc.
