Within the Group, you will join the Group Risk Management.

The AXA Group Risk Management (GRM) brings together high level and multidisciplinary staff with engineers, actuaries and financials split between Paris, Zurich, Madrid and the US. Its mains missions are focused on the following key areas:

  • Define the process enabling to identify, assess & mitigate the risks undertaken.
  • Identify, analyze, model and aggregate the Group's risks (economic capital and emergence of economic value).
  • Contribute to mitigate the Group's risks (standards & policies, reinsurance, securitization, etc.).

Within this Direction, you will be part of the P&C Department.

The P&C Department is responsible for P&C Risks management.

Key missions of the department are to:

  • Set up an effective risk management framework :

Identify & map P&C (re)insurance risks, quantify risks (models), design validate & deploy internal model, set & monitor Risk Appetite, review & approve (re)insurance Standard & Policies, contribute to regulatory reports & relation with ACPR, leverage Group Internal model, conduct Group Use Test (produce RAF, STEC, ECR metrics), produce Elypse metrics.

  • Ensure the effectiveness of the risk framework :

Promote a P&C Risk Management culture throughout the AXA Group, contribute to IDR/TR agenda & work, drive NEO (the AXA Group Natural Events platform), ensure 2nd line of defence with 2nd opinion on P&C activities (Strategic plan, CEO dialogues questions, reserving, UW referrals (GUC membership), Reinsurance (GSC membership), CLEAR (Steerco membership), PMP (2nd opinion in ARCC)), steer Standards/Policies breaches identification & remediation (for ARCC validation/information).

Main Purpose & Core Activities of the job

Within the P&C Risk Management team, the Head of P&C Business Risk will be responsible for the management of risks resulting from P&C underwriting & claims handling, for both retail & commercial lines.

This includes the following main activities:

  • Identify & map the P&C (re) insurance risks through sound portfolio and business knowledge & sound understanding of P&C underwriting strategy
  • Contribute to the P&C systemic risk modelling activities & to the risk appetite set up, bringing expert judgement to models teams
  • Review & approve the standards & policy for insurance, assumed reinsurance and ceded reinsurance
  • Contribute to entities In Depth Review & Technical Reviews agenda & work
  • Ensure 2nd line of defence with 2nd opinion on P&C strategic plan, CEO dialogues questions, Underwriting referrals to Group (Group Underwriting Committee membership), CLEAR (Steerco membership – process aiming at identifying & mitigating systemic risks across portfolios & aiming at clarifying covers), Portfolio Management Process in Commercial Lines (responsible for the consolidation & presentation of entities RM 2nd opinion in ARCC)
  • Steer Standards/Policies breaches identification & remediation (for ARCC validation/information)
  • Contribute to promote a P&C Risk Management culture throughout the AXA Group

Dimensions

The Group Head of P&C Business Risks reports to the Group P&C Chief Risk Officer. He coordinates the work of a 4 members specialist team (senior underwriting experts, senior claims experts, project management experts).

The Group Head of P&C Business Risks is a voting member of the Group Underwriting Committee (GUC).

His counterparts are:

  • The Group Management Committee members, the senior managers of Group Risk Management, Group Underwriting Office, Group Legal, Group Operations, Group CFO (including GPM, PBRC, DCFG), Public Affairs.
  • All P&C entities (over 40 entities) or regions/markets at Senior Management level, especially Chief Risk Officers P&C and also Chief Underwriting Officers and Chief Claims Officers.

Desired profile

Qualifications :

Technical skills

·  In-depth comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience in P&C business operations including Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, in Insurance and Reinsurance, as well as a thorough understanding of business insurance rationale, processes, profitability levers & risk management.
·  Sound understanding of processes to efficiently manage the decisions to be taken in the different governance bodies of a large international Group.
·  Strong strategic vision supporting an ability to challenge and orient the P&C strategy, operations, risk management at Group or Entity level operations.

Soft skills

·  Natural leadership.
·  Very good analytical and concise communication.
·  Ability to work in network, with tight deadlines and team spirit.
·  Good organizational and time management skills.
·  Strong written & oral communication skills, including ability to deliver high-level presentations to senior management or entity CEOs.
